Previewing each game with key stats highlighted

  • Brentford V Man United – Saturday lunch time kick off. Will Brian Mbeumo get a good reception on his return to the ground where he made his name? United are winless in their last 3 visits.  The Bees have managed a goal a game (6 in total) but conceded more (10 goals) averaging 2 goals per game. Key stat – United have conceded in every game and Brentford just 1 clean sheet and conceding on averaging 2 goals per game . Expecting goals.
  • Chelsea V Brighton – 63% home win to Chelsea (13% away win) in the last 8 seasons and back to back recent victories. Brighton have also conceded 4 goals this season and no clean sheets. Key stat – Both teams have scored in 4 out of 5 games whilst Brighton have yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Expecting goals.
  • Crystal Palace V Liverpool – Key stats – On stats alone this is a big game. The only unbeaten teams this season play each other with Liverpool top of the goal scoring table whilst Palace joint leaders of the defensive charts.
  • Leeds V Bournemouth – Leeds were struggling to score until grabbing 3 last weekend against Wolves. The Cherries are tough to score against (5 goals conceded this season but 4 were in the opening game at Liverpool). Could be a low scoring game.
  • Man City V Burnley – The Clarets have lost their last 7 visits to the Eithad, conceding 25 and scoring just twice. City have to be favourites.
  • Notts Forest V Sunderland – Forest play back-back promoted teams having drawn away to Burnley last week. Key stats – Forest yet to keep a clean sheet this season and Sunderland are unbeaten in their last three matches. Should be a good game.
  • Tottenham V Wolves – Unexpected stats – over the last seven visits to London Wolves have a 57% win rate and not lost the last two visits. Pointless Wolves face a tough away fixture against free scoring Spurs averaging 2 goals per game and only failing to find the net once this season. Home team must be favourite.
  • Aston Villa V Fulham – Villa managed to find the net last week but are still winless. The last 4 visits have been home wins.
  • Everton V West Ham – On historic form (last 8 games) this is an even fixture (44% home and away win rate) with the Hammers unbeaten in their last two visits. Key stats – On current form the Toffees must start favourites if only for the Hammers poor start to the season (4 defeats) and conceding 13 goals (worst in the league).

Newcastle V Arsenal – The big game on Sunday afternoon could be a battle of two mean defences.

Game of the weekend
Game of the weekend

On historic form (last 8 games) this is an even fixture (50% home and away win rate) and no draws. The Toons hold the edge with back-to-back home wins. Key stat – on current form Arsenal have conceded 2 goals (never more than 1 a game) whilst Newcastle conceded 3 this season (all in the game against Liverpool down to ten men) and three consecutive clean sheets. Expecting a close, low scoring hard fought game.
